I went to Disney World in the early seventies. This was something that never left my mind. For me this is still the top attraction. Been there a few times. Last time was when Epcot was getting build. In Florida we've been to lot of parks which most are closed. Silver Springs (beautiful), Six Gun Territory, Parrot Jungle and Stars Hall of Fame (Orlando). A few years ago we went to Disneyland Paris. It's small but it sure brought up memories.

What was your favorite amusement park?

In my area it was Marshall Hall and Glen Echo Park. Marshall Hall been defunct since the 60s. Glen Echo is now a National Park. Disney World was still pretty new in late seventies..never went their. We did have Hershey Park in Pennsylvania. All the good amusement parks are all gone! Coney Island is trying to revitalize! All the amusement Parks along the Chesapeake Bay in the 20s and 30s are all but a memory! I guess Kings Dominion here in Virginia is still going strong!

in late summer, 1973, we were in upstate NY and spent the day in a place called Story Town.
Not to be confused with Story Land in NH.

Story Town, while no where near the scale of Disney, had far more than anything I had seen in New England. It was a great time for our family of 4. Never equaled it since. Disney has always been appealing but way to expensive to ever justify. I like the way the Simpsons lampooned going there. Homer really nailed it. Then again, there is Itchy and Scratchy Land. I'd go there for sure ;-)

Tulsa State fair was an annual pilgrimage. But in 1967, we went to Expo 67 up in Montreal. I was seven years old, but i still carry dozens of wonderful memories of my first trip to a foreign country!

We were there to Baldguy! Expo 67! We stayed in Quebec, but went to Montreal for the event! That was my first trip to Canada. It is where I found out that they don't put ice in drinks in Quebec!

I remember sitting in my first traffic jam, amused that the speed limit sign said 60 MPH! I also recall a canal there. Simon and Garfunkel were playing at the fair. And that amazing geodesic dome US pavilion! We stayed in a boarding house with a community bathroom. My first and only time doing that! And all the signs being in French (first!) and English.

Yes indeed! The giant speer! And remember all those Honeycombed looking buildings? French was spoken all over! I have our French langauge book we used then! The most important line to know in Canada...Un soel la toilet? Where is the toilet!  Also emember seeing BP stations for the first time in Canada! Back then, I think the Canadian dollar was less then. The US dollar. We also stayed in Trois Riveries close by. And it was safe back in the sixties. Dad actually picked up a young hitchiker who needed a ride and it was exceptable up their with no fear!

River's End, I almost married a girl who lived right next to Glen Echo park, in a suburban division called Bannockburn.  Crathie Lane.
The big deal for me was the 1970 World's Fair in Osaka, Japan.  It was more like another world than another country, and it was like visiting the future.  Literally, since a lot of the things there weren't seen here in the U. S.  until year's later.
My Dad was in Viet-Nam at the time serving in the Marine infantry and he met us for an R and R.  What a treat to have the family together after almost a year!
